UST’s MORF: Student-Led Media Agency Premieres Two Original TV Shows

MORF, composed of passionate 3rd-year Communication students from the University of Santo Tomas, is an agency committed to pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation in media. Formed in 2023, they have rapidly developed into a powerhouse of new concepts and dynamic strategies. As part of the requirements for third-year UST Communication students, the agency will participate in “COMMTV,” an annual interclass competition for TV production run by the UST-Communication Arts Students’ Association (UST-CASA). With that, they’ll be producing two shows. Let’s dive in!

The production house’s first show, Beyond the Arch, is an interview series that features Thomasian alumni reminiscing about their time in college and visiting important spots that have changed or disappeared from the campus. In its entirety, the show aims to showcase a diverse range of Thomasian alumni from different fields, backgrounds, and generations to capture a comprehensive/complete picture of the impact of the university on its graduates and to officer advice, insights, and life lessons to help inspire and guide current students through their academic and personal journeys.

Meanwhile, their second show, Battle of The Hustle, is a reality game that features selected students who will launch their businesses and compete with each other to win titles. How? The mechanics are simple. Participating teams will be drawn from four (4) cuisine categories and shall be given a starting capital of P5,000.00 pesos. With the budget, they are tasked to strategize and expand their business. Then, a one-day selling event will be held where the teams will be serving their chosen dishes. Possible winning awards are  Best in Theme Execution, Customer’s Choice Award, and the Battle of the Hustle Champion 2024 award. Thus, the program aims to highlight the grit behind building a business and innovating tactics to maximize its resources.
