Filipinos Are Using Ride-Hailing Apps More Often as Mobility Habits Evolve

Manila, 7 September 2026 – Ride-hailing is becoming a more regular part of how Filipinos move. According to inDrive data, 74% of Metro Manila residents have used ride-hailing apps in the past three months and used them at an average of three times a week.

This data points to how Filipinos are becoming more deliberate with how they move. As mobility demands continue to evolve, so do the choices Filipino commuters make about how they get around.

Filipino Commuters are Becoming More Intentional

inDrive data shows that Filipino passengers today consider ride-hailing apps essential to move around the metro. Now, ride-hailing apps have become the standard for efficient in-city transport, with 56% booking trips in the app whenever they are in a hurry. Meanwhile, 49% say ride-hailing has become their go-to mode of transport when weather conditions influence their travel plans.

Commuters also choose ride-hailing apps to travel comfortably (32%), to reach areas with minimal nearby public transportation options (30%), and to feel safe while travelling late at night or in unfamiliar areas (29%).

inDrive data also shows that ride-hailing demand is driven by Filipinos commuting from their residences to key urban destinations like malls, airports, and bus terminals. Taken together, this pattern suggests that convenience is no longer simply about getting a ride. For Filipino commuters, mobility is woven into their lifestyle, with ride-hailing becoming a flexible option that fits different destinations, schedules, and plans.

More tellingly, the inDrive data reveals that Filipinos are more intentional when picking which ride-hailing app to use, with 78% comparing fares across several apps at once. However, this goes beyond simply choosing the one with the lowest fare. In fact, 87% value an app that makes them feel safest while commuting. Meanwhile, 73% prioritize ride quality over cost, with more passengers looking for readily available rides, flexibility in booking, friendly drivers, and overall comfort.
