MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 30 APRIL 2025 – FWD Life Insurance (FWD Philippines) is taking a significant step towards environmental preservation by planting 1,200 native trees as part of its Community Care initiatives in partnership with Fostering Education & Environment for Development Inc. (FEED Philippines).
As the insurer of the next generation, FWD’s Forest of the Future aims to build a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations by planting native and endemic species at the Laguna-Quezon Land Grant and reinforcing a section of the Sierra Madre Mountain range.
The Sierra Madre is a crucial natural barrier against typhoons that impact the region annually, reducing the destructive effects on many communities. It’s also a vital ecosystem for various flora and fauna, including endemic species. However, the area is threatened by constant deforestation and other human activities.
Volunteers from FWD planted endemic species like Malaruhat-puti, as well as native species including Bagtikan, Daligdigan, Dulitan, and Mayapis. Under FWD’s Community Care program, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the insurance company’s contributions to sustainable environmental stewardship.
FWD Philippines President & CEO, Antonio Manuel “Jumbing” de Rosas shared, “This initiative showcases the collective impact of individuals to shape a more resilient future for the next generation. Beyond planting trees, we’re building a stronger nation. This effort also fosters a sense of purpose among FWD employees, as we empower them to be agents of change as they celebrate living.”
Partnerships Director of FEED Philippines, Anne-Marie Mananquil Bakker, shared how this collaboration with FWD Philippines represents a shared vision. “FWD aligns with many of our values in FEED. We both foster a sense of purpose and empower individuals to build the best future for Filipinos. Together, we’re cultivating a legacy of resilience and hope. We look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership.”
Registered with the Philippine Securities & Exchange Commission, FEED is a non-profit organization focused on growing, preserving, and protecting local biodiversity through integrated educational programs, community development initiatives, and scientific/practical research.
