Philippines Wins Two Major Honors at TripZilla Excellence Awards 2025; TPB Recognized for Sustainability Leadership

The Philippines secured two major country distinctions at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2025, earning Best Dive Destination and Destination of the Year. The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines was likewise recognized as Sustainability Leader of the Year.

Now in its 11th year, the TripZilla Excellence Awards recognizes leading travel organizations and destinations across the industry. The Philippines’ multi-award recognition underscores its continued global appeal across diverse leisure segments, anchored in its natural landscapes and strengthened by its commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism.

The Philippines was named Best Dive Destination for the second consecutive year and Destination of the Year, while the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines received the Sustainability Leader of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year.

“What sets Philippine tourism apart is our ability to inspire travelers while remaining accountable to the communities and environments that welcome them,” said TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “Through long-term partnerships and responsible tourism programs, we ensure that every visit creates value for travelers and for the communities that sustain our destinations. This recognition affirms that our work translates into tangible, lasting impact.”

The country was named Best Dive Destination for the second consecutive year, highlighting the strength of its marine tourism sector and its reputation as a premier global diving hub.

In addition, the Philippines reclaimed the Destination of the Year title, having first earned the distinction in 2023. The recognition reflects sustained interest in the country’s diverse offerings—from world-renowned island destinations such as Boracay, Palawan, Siargao, and La Union to immersive heritage and culinary experiences that encourage travelers to explore beyond traditional routes.

TPB Philippines was also conferred Sustainability Leader of the Year for the fourth consecutive year, citing its continued efforts to embed sustainability into destination marketing and tourism development strategies. Through initiatives such as the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Marketing Enhancement Program, TPB empowers local stakeholders and integrates communities into the tourism value chain by collaborating with media, digital creators, and tour operators.

This sustainability-driven approach extends to international platforms, including Expo 2025 Osaka, where Philippine artisanal textiles and curated local experiences are being presented to global audiences. Engagements with weaving communities, such as those at the Lang Dulay Weaving Center in South Cotabato, further demonstrate TPB’s commitment to cultural preservation and inclusive tourism growth.

As the organization marks this milestone, TPB continues to focus on strengthening the country’s global tourism profile through sustained, market-responsive initiatives. The three recognitions reflect ongoing efforts to develop tourism experiences grounded in authenticity, community participation, and long-term destination stewardship.
