In a thrilling announcement for K-drama fans worldwide, South Korean superstars Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo are set to star together for the first time in the upcoming drama “Slowly, Intensely”. The series, which began filming earlier this month, is directed by Lee Yoon-jung and written by renowned screenwriter Noh Hee-kyung1.
Set in the 1960s and 1970s, “Slowly, Intensely” delves into the lives of people in the broadcasting industry, focusing on both the stars on stage and the individuals behind the scenes who shape their careers. This marks the third collaboration between Song Hye Kyo and Noh Hee-kyung, following their previous works “Worlds Within” (2008) and “That Winter, The Wind Blows” (2013)1. Gong Yoo reunites with director Lee Yoon-jung, with whom he worked on the hit series “Coffee Prince” (2007).
The drama boasts a production budget of over 70 billion won (approximately $47.8 million) and is expected to be released on Netflix as a 22-episode series. Both Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo have found success on the streaming platform, with Gong Yoo starring in “Squid Game” and Song Hye Kyo in “The Glory”1.
