Globe advocates clean energy and champions climate tech by introducing EVs in its ‘G Chance The Raffle’

As a testament to its strong advocacy to promote sustainability and clean energy, Globe Telecom, through its exciting G Chance the Raffle, provides its customers the opportunity to be more eco-friendly by raffling off zero-emission electric vehicles as top prizes in this year’s contest.

One BYD Dolphin Pure Electric Vehicle with 400-km range and three Gogoro Smartscooters – more sustainable transportation options – are up for grabs, aligned with Globe’s continuous support of the latest climate technology and promotion of cleaner solutions.

This year’s G Chance the Raffle marks the first time Globe will include e-vehicles among the prizes as it strengthens its stance in helping customers go for more purposeful choices, in this case, by making cleaner transportation options available to them. The event also kickstarts the lead-up to the launch of Gogoro Smartscooters in the Philippines, expected by the end of the year.

This milestone initiative to include EVs as top prizes in this year’s G Chance the Raffle reinforces Globe’s overarching and longstanding commitment to sustainability across its efforts and activations.

Notably, the Globe Group’s efforts on sustainability have already been recognized and lauded by major award-giving bodies, such as the company’s big wins in four categories at the Sustainable Company Awards 2023.

These awards include the Energy Efficiency Initiative of the Year in APAC, Net Zero Progression of the Year in APAC, Sustainability Reporting of the Year in APAC, and Large Enterprise of the Year in APAC. These recognitions underscore Globe’s dedication to its sustainable business practices.

“We want our advocacy for sustainable solutions to transcend not only within the company but also to our customers. This possibility is a chance for them to experience clean energy through sustainable transportation options. In a way, this might lead them to make more sustainable lifestyle choices,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

Distributed by AC Motors, under Globe principal Ayala Corporation, with Solar Transport as its Key Dealer network, the BYD Dolphin Pure EV is a 5-seater electric vehicle that runs on a 70-kW (95 horsepower) electric motor with 180 Nm torque, powered by a 44.9-kWh lithium-ion iron phosphate battery.

With a 400-km range, the stylish compact hatchback can comfortably handle out-of-town trips without noise or vibrations. It has zero emissions and boasts world-class safety.

Meanwhile, Gogoro Smartscooters are powered through GoStations, where users can conveniently swap depleted batteries for fully-charged ones in as quick as six seconds.

The Gogoro Smartscooters will be launched commercially in Q4 2023, with Globe’s 917Ventures, the Ayala Corporation, and Gogoro Taiwan partnering in a concerted effort to bring a cleaner transport system to the Philippines.

As the G Chance the Raffle draws to a close, the overwhelming response to the Electric Vehicle prize category reflects not only Globe Telecom’s commitment to sustainability but also its customers’ collective eagerness to embrace eco-friendly transportation solutions.
