Avon’s #FeelYourself Movement Empowers Filipinas to Fight Breast Cancer

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Avon, a proud and leading advocate for women’s health and well-being, is taking bold strides this October with the launch of its #FeelYourself movement, inspiring Filipinas to lead the charge in the fight against breast cancer.

Breast cancer remains the most commonly occurring cancer in women worldwide. In 2022, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with the disease, with 670,000 recorded deaths. In the Philippines, where breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women, Avon is strengthening its commitment to promoting early detection, awareness, and education.[1]

The latest Avon Boob Census, a comprehensive study conducted by the global beauty brand every year, reveals that of 7,000 women across seven countries, including the Philippines, only 45% of women feel confident identifying signs of breast cancer—down from 47% in 2023. Just 12% of women are learning breast self-checks from family, a decrease from 20% last year.

However, there is also growing hope: more young women are becoming proactive about their health. Among women aged 18-24 with a family history of breast cancer, 27% are now getting tested for genetic mutations, up from 20% the previous year, reflecting a new wave of empowered women across the globe feeling confident in their knowledge of breast health.

For over 30 years, Avon has stood by women in their journey to breast health awareness, encouraging them to take control of their health. Launching their breast cancer awareness month campaign, the #FeelYourself movement encourages women to prioritize their well-being and include breast self-checks in their self-care routine as self-care that could save their lives.

Joanna Newark, Avon Global’s Chief Storyteller and Breast Cancer Survivor, says: “Looking good on the outside starts with feeling healthy on the inside. Between juggling work, supporting family, being a friend, daughter, sister, or mother, our busy lives can make it easy to overlook or prioritize looking after our health, but it’s crucial that we take the time to check in with ourselves.”

Through regular breast self-checks and awareness, breast cancer can be detected early—making a life-saving difference. With early detection, there is a 90% survival rate—a testament to how knowing the signs, knowing the risks, and knowing how to take action can make all the difference in one’s journey through breast health.

#FeelYourself because it’s self-care that can save your life

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Avon calls on all to unite, take action, and empower each other to take charge of their breast health through a series of uplifting, educational, and impactful events.
