Mella Hotel Offers Filipino Heritage Experience

Mella Hotel was a great discovery for me.  I’d tried hotels in the South area and was delighted to find this one, which is located in Villar Sipag, C5 Extension Road, Paranaque, Manila. It is positioned strategically near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It’s just a 15 to 20-minute ride via personal car or even Grab services. This is a plus point for me especially when you have relatives going home and you live in the province.  I suggest that you spend the night here to unwind and enjoy the colonial-modern features. When you’ve been away for too long, staying in a Filipino-themed hotel is both refreshing and nostalgic.

The lobby looks good with its modern touch and relaxed atmosphere. It’s comparable to some of
the hotels I’ve stayed in the South area. We stayed in their Family Room B and you are welcomed here with a tropical-themed room. It has all the basic amenities that we need from the wifi, a TV, Air
Conditioning, 2 beds and 2 pull-out beds, and a separate bathroom and toilet. Their refrigerator
comes with a couple of complimentary bottled water, coffee, and tea.

There were 5 people in the room but we didn’t feel cramped at all. We were still able to enjoy the room and slept well. Their wifi was also faster than the other hotels I’ve been to. I love that we were able to still enjoy our Netflix favorites. We also went there for their other facilities and it didn’t disappoint. There is a cafe and a bar. When I first saw it, I immediately thought of going there for work. Their wifi is available throughout the hotel, allowing you to complete some work. It is open until 10:00 p.m. and is rarely crowded at night. You can unwind with their coffee and other refreshments.

Don’t forget to visit their pool at least once because it’s kid-friendly. Their pool is warm, so you and your family can stay for longer periods without worrying about your children. We had a great time swimming in the pool, more so at night because of the lights and plants. I also discovered that they have a kids’ playroom available, which is every mother’s dream. You have two options for ending your day: go to their massage and spa space or burn some calories at their fitness center. I recommend going with the latter so you can eat more at their breakfast buffet.

Food Experience

If you’re looking for a hotel restaurant that serves Pinoy-inspired cuisine, the Veranda Restaurant at Mella Hotel is the place to go.  The interiors, like the menu, have a relaxing, warm, Spanish Filipino-themed feel. The restaurant’s guests and occupants will appreciate the exceptional hospitality and welcoming atmosphere.

The Veranda Restaurant

Let me start by describing the atmosphere of the restaurant located on the ground floor, across from the lobby. You’ll note the chic interior styling drawn from Filipino heritage, together with the ideal lighting that fosters a cozy ambiance. The in-house chef efficiently prepares a variety of regional and foreign cuisines for its guests. Given that it views out into the pool area, breakfast and lunch will be the best times to eat there. The breakfast buffet is excellent; it offers a wide variety of options, but the taho corner—yes, they served taho for breakfast—delighted me.

Their selection of set meals includes delectable dishes suitable for any occasion. You can order from their a la carte menu or a set menu for lunch and dinner. They serve a variety of original Filipino-inspired dishes.

For dinner, we had the Salu-Salo set 3 set menu which is good for 6 people. Dishes include: chicken pastel, grilled liempo, caldereta, nilasing na hipon, ampalaya con karne, canton bihon guisado, aligue rice and they served it with my new favorite leche flan .

Inihaw na Liempo

We heartily recommend their aligue rice, which has a unique flavor that any fan of rice will like. With the addition of the chorizo bilbao and corn kernel mixture, they gave the chicken pastel meal the ideal twist. As I stated earlier, I adore their meringue-topped leche flan; the sweetness is well-balanced and leaves you craving more. It is highly recommended for balikbayan visitors who miss Filipino food to order this set dinner. Filipino heritage foods are abundant in salu-salu set dinners, which would delight Pinoy food lovers.

You can stay at Mella Hotel whether you are visiting family, or friends, or attending a business trip or conference. It’s a complete package for me, and it meets your needs.
