M&S Confirms It Will Remain in PH, Seeks New Partner After SSI Exit

MANILA, Philippines — February 27, 2026 — British retailer Marks & Spencer has clarified that it does not intend to withdraw from the Philippine market, following an earlier announcement by its long-time local partner, SSI Group Inc., that all M&S stores would close by May 2.

In a statement, the London-based company said it remains committed to growth in the Philippines and has no plans to exit the country. Marks & Spencer noted its aim to continue bringing apparel and food offerings to international customers, despite the imminent end of its nearly 40-year partnership with SSI.

The clarification suggests M&S may pursue a new local partner or explore other business models to maintain its presence in the Philippines.
