Cebuana leads the charge in Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026

MANILA, PHILIPPINES (January 22, 2026) – Cebu-based freestyle dancer Sam Rivera, known in the street dance community as NEMESIS, has earned her place on the global stage after emerging as the country’s top freestyle dancer and competing at the World Finals in Los Angeles.

After years of persistence and three attempts, NEMESIS claimed the national title in front of her hometown crowd. This achievement pushed her into the World Finals, where she broke into the Top 16 and stood alongside the world’s best freestyle dancers.

Her journey began in Cebu’s krump scene, shaped by local battles, long training sessions, and a close-knit community. A near-win at the national finals in 2024 became a turning point, prompting her to refine not only her physical training but also her mental preparation through visualization, breathing exercises, and trusting her instincts over choreography.

“The biggest difference this year was my mindset and maturity,” she shared. “I came in with more confidence and trust in my own style.”

Competing internationally reinforced her belief in Filipino freestyle talent. Performing in Los Angeles, she felt the energy of the crowd and fellow dancers respond to her movement—proof that Filipino dancers belong on the world stage without changing who they are.

As one of the few women excelling in a male-dominated krump scene, NEMESIS has also become a symbol of confidence and representation. Her style blends power, emotion, and control, inspiring young dancers—especially women—to believe they have a place in freestyle culture.

With the 2026 season now underway, her journey sets the tone for the next wave of Filipino street dancers. “You don’t need perfect resources to reach the world stage,” she said. “What matters is consistency, faith, and love for the dance.”
